Imperial Health Sciences of South Africa have constructed a 12,300m² state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility in Mlolongo, Kenya. X-Calibur East Africa was contracted to supply and install a variety of flooring systems including 10,242m² of polished concrete using X-Tech Formula X and 1,533m² of self-leveling epoxy X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL3. X-Shield VaporStop HB was used as a moisture barrier to allow the epoxy finish to be installed early. X-Seal HD80 was used to seal construction joints and X-Joint FHD-BS 35, a heavy-duty mechanical joint for expansion joints.

This luxury high-end development is located on Parklands 6th Avenue and overlooks Muthaiga. The 8,907m² car park coating system is X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL1 a 1mm self-leveling epoxy floor finish application is being carried out by our installation team. This is the first very high-end car park coating system used in Kenya.

X-Calibur East Africa recently completed coating of the Children’s Water Pool for Pride Inn Paradise in Shanzu on the North Coast. The water feature will be unique in Kenya as it takes the children through a tour of Kenya comprising a Safari, Mount Kenya, and the Coast activity water features. The coating was an epoxy polyurethane composite system comprising X-Prime MT – a moisture
tolerant epoxy primer, X-Tech VaporStop HB, water and vapor-proof layer, X-Tech EpoxySeal FLR 100 as the base layer followed by X-Shield UraSeal, one color coat and two clear coats to provide a UV stable and chlorine stable finish. The work of 963m² was completed in 7 days
allowing the client’s theming contractor to start work on time.

X-Calibur East Africa completed its first X-Tech DecoQuartz project this month for a private client in Nairobi. DecoQuartz is a decorative finish that comprises colored quartz sand fully bound in a resin matrix and sealed with a UV-resistant topcoat. The sands are manufactured by X-Calibur International in the UAE and are available in over 50 colors. They can be blended to provide unique color blends making your floor truly unique.

X-Calibur East Africa installed 715m² of X-Tech EpoxySeal FLR100 for Jetlak Foods, a Kenyan manufacturer of a variety of food and beverages at their new factory extension. Extensive repair works were carried on to the concrete slab which was the ground to achieve a flat surface. X-Tech EpoxyFloor SLU was used for repairs. X-Tech Vaporstop HB was used as a moisture barrier.

X-Calibur East Africa recently completed a kitchen floor for the new Hardees outlet at JKIA. 61m² of X-Tech UraFloor TF and 57m of EasyCove were installed. Due to access restrictions, the work had to be carried out at night.

X-Calibur East Africa (XEA) recently completed work on the new Aerlink
Aircraft Hanger at Wilson Airport, Nairobi. XEA advised on construction of the concrete slab which was cast to a very high standard. The slab had zero cracks due to the use of X-Mix WRA water reducer, X-Mix PPF fibres and curing using X-Cure WB90 immediately after casting. The client was extremely focused on having a top quality floor with no expansion joint issues later on so specified a mechanical expansion joint X-Joint FHS-BS which was installed to have a smooth transition from the 3mm self levelling epoxy floor finish.

XEA installed 90m² of X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL1 for a new boutique gourmet chocolate factory The work involved leveling and repairing the concrete substrate to be able to receive the 1mm epoxy self-leveling floor. The end result was a level easy to clean hygienic floor that was within the client’s tight budget.

X-Calibur East Africa supplied and applied 2021m² of X-Tech EpoxyFloor TF a high strength trowelable floor and 2021m² of X-Shield EpoxyLock EPN is a high-performance epoxy novolac coating for concrete and steel in, Kiambu Kenya

XEA supplied and installed 1,300m² of various resin floor systems including
X-Tech EpoxyFloor TU, SLU, SL1 & 2 and X-TechEpoxySeal FLR55 & FLR100.

Pride Inn Paradise, Shanzu is the flagship hotel of the Pride Inn Group. X-Calibur East Africa was contracted to supply and apply 404m2 of self-leveling epoxy, X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL3 for the kitchen floors and 1,050m² of Class 0 rated epoxy coating X-Tech EpoxySeal FLR100 for the walls. This was an extremely fast-track project
completed in under two weeks. The epoxy floor was installed in just 5 days followed by the wall coating allowing the kitchen to open on schedule.

New Detergent Plant at Thika. X-Calibur is supplying and installing a total of 8 different resin floor systems for a total floor area of 9,250m². The floor systems were designed for each specific area which resulted in the best value for the client. Work is progressing well with all the floors being subjected to a very high degree of surface preparation to ensure the floors will perform as required.
X-Shield VaporStop HB is being used as a moisture vapor barrier and waterproofing membrane in areas of high risk.

X-Calibur East Africa has just completed flooring works at the new Swissport Air Freight Handling Facility at Nyerere Julius International Airport in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. The 5000m² utilized the X-Tech Heavy Duty Floor System comprising 4mm X-Tech EpoxyFloor TU with X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL1 as a 1mm self-leveling finish coat. X-Tech UraSeal CS was used in cold rooms and freezers.

Palco Flooring X-Calibur’s exclusive flooring applicator installed 2000m² of X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL3 at the YU Lounge Private Aircraft Terminal at SSR International airport in Mauritius. YU Lounges cater to the VIP customers arriving by private aircraft. The hanger and lounge facility was designed by Arup and built by Rehm Griniker for General Aviation Mauritius. The terminal is operated by Veling Group an aviation services major who operates You Lounges throughout the world.

The Architect wanted an organic shiny
polished concrete surface. This was achieved by 5 stage concrete polishing and the use X-Tech Formula X a liquid lithium silicate concrete hardener applied to densify the concrete surface to produce a decorative hard wearing surface. The total floor area treated was 414m².

TAL X-Calibur supplied and oversaw the installation of 1100m² of X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL1 at the Toyota Service Centre in Hillcrest, Durban, South Africa.

X-Calibur East Africa (XEA) has begun installing the final floor finish at the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital. The first areas completed were the imaging department and laboratories of the over 20,000m² awarded to XEA. Work is ongoing at a fast pace.

Quality Meat Packers operates the largest
privately owned slaughterhouse and meat processing plant in Kenya. They recently expanded their operation at Nairobi with a brand new chicken slaughter line and
processing facility. XEA installed the following products: 285m² of X-Tech
EpoxyFloor SL2 in the Dispatch Area, Secondary Packaging Area, Corridor, Injection Room and Feather Removal Room. 264m² of X-Tech UraFloor CS in the Cold Room Area. 495m² of X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL3 in the Primary Packaging Area, Processing Area and Receiving Area. 135m² of X-Tech UraFloor TF in the
Slaughter House. 756m² of X-Tech EpoxySeal FLR100 for wall coating.

XEA supplied an installed 17,789m² of
X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL1 for the Westgate Mall existing mall and the new extension. The basement slab had X-Shield VaporStop HB installed before applying the final finish to prevent osmotic moisture drive from the soil beneath the slab.

Tuskys Milele Mall, Ngong. X-Calibur East Africa installed 5,600 m² of its

X-Tech Formula X polished concrete system. Extensive repairs and level correction of the slab were required by working 2x12 shifts daily, 7 days a week. The work was completed on time.

Al Malika Foods Industry Co. Savola 10th Ramadan City, Cairo. X-Calibur Egypt is supplying over 4,000m² of various X-Tech epoxy fl oor fi nishes to a 24 metric ton per hour pasta factory in Egypt. It is one of the largest pasta factories in the world. Al Malika is part of the Savola Group, Savola is the largest and most successful food
processing group in the Middle East and North Africa.

Zoskales Waterproofing (X-Calibur Certified Applicator) has installed 3100m² of flooring at the JESH Meat PLC in Ethiopia. 1800m² of X-Tech UraFloor TF was installed in the chiller rooms and high movement operational areas. 525m² of X-Tech UraFloor CS was used in cold stores having temperatures ranging between -20°C and -35°C. X-Tech EpoxySeal FLR100 was used in the service rooms.

Palco flooring has installed X-Tech EpoxySeal SL3 at two egg processing
facilities for Inicia Limited in Mauritius. 860m2 was installed at the facility in Eau Bleu and 420m² at the facility in La Laura. I nicia is the largest egg production and distribution company in Mauritius, processing over 55,000,000 eggs annually.

X-Calibur East Africa has completed
9,249m² of resin flooring at the Bidco Africa New Detergent Production Facility at Thika. The plant produces a variety of well-known brands including Genital blue washing powder and Power Boy stain remover. A variety of flooring systems were installed. The photograph shows a sulphonic acid area. We will show other systems used on the project in forthcoming issues.

X-Calibur East Africa has completed
X-Calibur East Africa instated 929m² of
X-Tech CemScreed RFR a high performance pumped screed and
X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL3 in Lab preparation room, Biology and Physics laboratories at the new Premier Academy in Parklands, Nairobi. This was a particularly challenging project as the screed had to be pumped up and through existing window openings.

X-Calibur East Africa has just completed epoxy flooring works at the new Kenyatta University Referral Hospital. This prestigious 500-bed facility will serve as a referral hospital for the Central, Eastern and North Eastern provinces in addition to its teaching and research role. XEA installed a total of 18,842m² of X-Tech EpoxySeal SL3 a hygienic 3mm thick self-leveling epoxy in the wards and 1,566m² of X-Tech AntiStatic SLE conductive epoxy floor system in the imaging department and operating theatres.

X-Calibur East Africa supplied and oversaw the installation of 2250m² of
X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL3 at the Oil Palm Uganda Ltd. Edible Vegetable Cooking Oil Refinery Jinja, Uganda

XEA supplied and installed 3,348m² of
X-Tech EpoxyFloor SL1 for the wheat and maize buildings and the intake tower. For the silo tunnel floor, 822m² of X-Tech EpoxySeal FLR55 was installed. The surface preparation and priming were carried out and then the equipment was then installed. Once equipment installation was complete the final finish was applied resulting in no damage to the floor during equipment installation.
